The Bethany Garden Labyrinth
at St. Elisabeth's

Our labyrinth is a permanent 44 foot "garden" labyrinth, patterned after the one at Chartres Cathedral. St. Elisabeth's offers it as a symbol of hospitality and blessing to the larger community. It is always open, and all are walkers are welcome!

What is a labyrinth?
Physically, labyrinths are patterns, usually circular, which (unlike mazes), have a single complex path to follow. Despite frequent turns and digressions, this path will always lead you home, to the center.

Spiritually, labyrinths are "walking meditations" that reflect on life as sacred journey. Some see walking its path as an ongoing pilgrimage toward God or wholeness, or as a pathway out of chaos, into order. Others walk it simply because it gives them clarity, or peace.

We hope that this labyrinth, a small garden space set aside at the center of our town, will be for people of all sorts and ages and traditions, a place of welcome and blessing.

Location
This labyrinth lies in a tree-enclosed corner of the church property, directly west of St. Elisabeth's Rectory. Located just east of the 5-point intersection of South Street, Greenwood, and Hawthorn Ave., it is 2 blocks west of Green Bay Road. An informational leaflet is available at the entrance.
